Cocker Spaniels - cocker spaniel vomiting

Question
QUESTION: i recently took my 15 year old dog to the vet due to vomiting and had her x-ray tested, blood test was normal, and vet said possible cancer in intestine or a celophane was ingested not digesting food thru. surgery only option and expensive.
Got a second opinion and showed the x-ray films, 5 x-ray sheets with some showing berium passing thru although slowly. 2nd vet said doesn`t see cancer and no reason why dog should not eat. wants to do more tests. he wants to see all blood tests done. i figured 1st vet did all necessary tests.
fed dog 1/8th of a hamburger ground beef and rice cereal. ate fine. tail wagging, overnite threw all up. 1st was clear but slimy,2nd was brown(from burger?) and white foamy stuff. what should i do now? getting expensive especially if she needs surgery. any ideas?

ANSWER: I'm confused as to whether the 2nd vet got to see all previous bloodwork?

All I can say is beef and cereal was a "hard to digest" meal for her.

If you want to try feeding multiple very small meals then I'd do the following:

Scramble 3 eggs - use no milk or oil.  Only scrambled eggs well whipped.
1 cup of cooked Plain White Rice (use extra water and overcook a bit).

Mix together well and divide up into 5 or 6 small meals spaced as far apart as possible. At least 2 hours apart.

This is the easiest thing to digest and will give her tummy a rest.  Keep refrigerated between snacks but never serve cold.

And do get copies of her bloodwork to the 2nd vet.

I'd also like to know how she "seems" apart from the vomiting and how long this has been going on?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: after this a.m. episode of vomiting she is weak but getting better. finally drinking. this vomiting about 4 days and now no stool yet for few days.will get blood results monday and will visit 2nd vet too. he is concerned of urine color so to get that will be a challenge.

Answer
At any time during this period have you fasted her for 8 hours?

You can catch a urine sample by quickly sticking a large spoon or small, flat container under her from behind when she's urinating.  You don't need much.  A first morning sample is best and either take it directly in or refrigerate it.

I'd definitely get her to your 2nd vet on Monday and just pop in to vet #1's office and ask the desk for a copy of her bloodwork as soon as it's there.

If this were my dog I'd be at the ER where they have far more sophisticated equipment.
I know you must be very, very worried.  Your girl may need a cat scan to really see what's going on there.
