Cocker Spaniels/poop

Question
Hello. I took my cocker out to poop and I noticed clear mucus in her poop. It was a very small amount. Should I be alarmed? Right after she passed it she began to scoot her bottom. Could this be something she got into. I see that she likes to look for slugs in ground. I've had to prowl her mouth open to get it out before.

Answer
It's quite common for you to see a "bit" of mucus from time to time and yes, eating a slug could do that.  However, if she's scooting continually she may well have full anal glands.  Not a big deal but if it continues, ask one of the techs at your vet's office to check & empty them.  I take it she's been wormed - you mentioned that before so that's not it.  She may well just have had an itchy bottom but keep an eye on it.

cockers will eat ANYTHING - especially at this age so watch her as carefully as you can.
