Cocker Spaniels/sore on side of nose

Question

minnies nose
Hello,

I have a 6 month old cocker spaniel. Her name is Minnie and we recently noticed a sore looking mass on the side of her nose. It is very pink and looks like an open sore, it is not crusty or dry. I am very worried. Can it be something serious. Have you heard of any other cocker having the same issue? The sore again is on the right side of her nose all the way to where her mouth begins. She has had it for two days now.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Oh my!  Minnie needs a vet visit but don't panic.  This could be a cyst which just needs draining (easy for the vet to aspirate it) but it definitely needs medical attention.
The good thing is that this came on "suddenly" and that probably means it's not serious but it cannot be left without being examined and dealt with or it could turn into something serious.

Poor Minnie!  Do get her to the vet as soon as possible.  At her age the chances that this is something really threatening is extremely small but it must be addressed promptly.  She could have "something" in there that needs removal.  Dogs stick their noses in the darndest places :)

Bottom line - get her to the vet.
Best of luck,
Delores
