Cocker Spaniels/Re: Dog Food??

Question
Hello,
Can you recommend what is a good-nutritional, healthy dog food that I can purchase at the grocery store and or Petsmart? Something that my dog won't gain weight. He is a active guy. He is a 4 year old Cocker Spaniel. At this point finances are low and going to the vet for food is not a option.

Answer
PetSmart carries AvoDerm which is really the only good food they do carry.  And it's far superior to what the vet would give you.

They also carry Organix which I usually don't recommend because I find it too low in calories.  But it is well formulated.

If you have a PetCo nearby, they are now carrying Cesar Milan's dog food - Solid Gold also.

Whatever you choose, switch him over slowly and do mix canned and kibble.  Canned food is higher in protein, less processed and has fewer carbs.

Health, nutrition, training. Please note: I used to highly recommend Innova products but, unfortunately, as with Canidae, they have sold out to Proctor & Gamble. This guarantees lower quality to a dangerous point so I will no longer be advising anyone to buy it.
