Question
Hello,

I was considering getting a cocker spaniel pup of 6-8 weeks old. However I work 5 days a week for eight hours and it take me an hour each way to travel to and from work.

I tried to research if I should or not get the pup because I do not want to leave it alone, however there seem to be people who say yes and people who say no.

Which one please?

Thanks
Confused!

Answer
A puppy that age(of any breed) needs to be fed 5 to 6x daily.  They need to be taken outside every 2 hours to get housebroken.  No puppy can be left alone 10 hours a day.  I can't believe anyone would say "yes" to that situation.

And once they're 12 weeks and have had all their puppy vacs - they need to be walked twice a day for at least half an hour.

So, unfortunately, it doesn't sound like having a dog is in the cards for you right now.
