Cocker Spaniels/really offensive dog odour

Question
6 year old cocker spaniel.  She is extremely nervous and needy (she is a rescue dog)  She smells so bad it is hard to be around her.  She has been bathed, groomed, anal glands done but still stinks so bad it is hard to have her on you or your furniture as she leaves the scent.  Any suggestions as to what could be causing this?  We are careful not to let her roll in anything.

Answer
I'd like to know what her skin and coat is like.  Flaky? (like dandruff) - Oily?  Is her skin a nice healthy light pink or tending towards red?

And what are you feeding her?  And how long have you had her?

Usually this can be controlled with an initial "every other day" bath routine with the right shampoo...then tapering off.  It sounds to me she has yeast overgrowth which will account for the odor.
