Question I recently purchased an 1886cc Morgan Dollar. Iknow the first thought. This coin came from aretired dentist who claims to hace had it for many years. It also has a doubled 6. 186'6'. Is there a possible Vam of this. Am I looking at "author" status or "sucker status" It does seem to be of less than crisp detail. Any quick and easy reference points for clarifying? Answer Hi Steve and the first question I must ask what is the date of your Morgan dollar? The reason I ask is because in 1886 there were no dollars produced at the Carson city mint,if it is 1885 that is different and it might be a possible VAM the best thing is to consult the reference on Morgan dollars but this coin might also have die chatter where a coin in the minting process when struck the die vibrates and a second slight image of certain parts of the coin appear
