QuestionI have a silver color coin, 50 British pence. Written 1906 July 23rd Royal Weddind / Elizerbeth II. I don't Elizerbeth II is so old. Do you know whose wedding was it onthis date? Is the coin realor fake? Thanks.
AnswerVirginia, this is indeed confusing. I went to both www.google.com and www.ebay.com and did a search for 50 Pence Elizabeth and several different versions including July 23 royal wedding. Couldn't find anything that could suggest this piece might exist. Looks like Elizabeth's royal webbing was on November 20, 1947, so the July 23rd date makes no sense either. Google search does show a royal wedding on July 23, 1986 (looks like it was Andrew and Sarah Ferguson) -- so please check your piece again is that zero really an eight. That would be my guess.
Go to www.ebay.com and do a search for "royal wedding commemorative coin" You should see one sale of a piece for the 1981 wedding of Charles and Diana. Is that similar to your piece? I tried a similar search on www.google.com and found some commemorative stamps for the Fergie/Andrew wedding but no coin. But I suspect that's what you have. Hope this helped, Jim Lawniczak
