Question
Hi Jim,
I have a MS67 (red) 1909 S VDB Lincoln penny that is slabbed and graded by Numistrust Corp.. I cannot find the value of this coin. Can only find a value on MS65. Can you provide me with a value?

Thanks,
John Weiss

Answer
Hello, John, I am not sure there is a value guide for a 67RD '09SVDB.  My PCGS population guide is 3 years old but as of then there were no PCGS SVDBs graded 67RD, highest was 66RD, therefore there is no real information on price available as they don't really sell all that often.  I have never heard of "Numistrust Corp." and so don't know if the market will accept this as a 67RD.  You might want to go to www.ebay.com and do a search for Numistrust Corp. and see what their slabbed coins are selling for compared to the prices in guides.  The most accepted coin grading comes from PCGS and NGC with ICG and SEGS and ANACS not far behind.  My guess is that a true 67RD SVDB would sell for many many thousands of dollars -- you may want to do ebay and www.google.com searches to see if any have been sold that you can find.  On the other hand if the market doesn't agree with the grade, then it won't sell for that price.  It's the coin someone will buy from you not the slab.  Hope this helps, Jim Lawniczak
