Question
I want to sell. what do you think it might be worth? it looks like it has an S above the tail feather its in OK condiditon. what do you think its worth?

Answer
Hi Tracy, the Greek style of the lettering that was popular at that time is why the U is shaped like a V. There is nothing unusual about the coin's value because of it.
Collector value of a coin depends on date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it.
The coin contains .7736 of an ounce of silver. There were nearly 17.5 million minted in San Francisco (S) that year. Collector value may range from the silver value up to about $25+ depending on wear and demand.
You might find similar pieces on Ebay.com for comparison.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins or Guidebook of United States Coins  for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
