Question
My wife found a 1927 copper penny that is half silver with King George on the other side.

The inscription of the King George side says[quote]
georcivs v dei gra rex et ind imp

What do we have and what is it worth?

Thank you

Answer
Hi John,

If there's no country name indicated, then it would be a British penny. The "silver" color is probably from someone having plated the one side. The 1927 penny is a common coin, with over 60 million made. Generally speaking, the value would probably be 25 cents retail. Many of these large pennies were saved when they were withdrawn in the late 60s, and millions of them have survived to this day.
