Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1940's Penny?

Question
I have a 1940's penny the problem is that I cannot read the last digit. At first I
thought it might be the angled line from a seven or a four. But on further
observation it is not the same angle and it is to close to the digit before it. It
looks just like a backslash so it  reads (194/). I know its misprint of somekind
but I have never seen anything like it. Curious to know its value I am kind of
scared to take it to be appraised.

Answer
Oftentimes, grease would fill the dies when the coins were being minted.  It sounds like that is the case here and the date is partially filled.  These are common errors and worth little.
Take it to a local dealer for an appraisal.
