Question

I have a 1941 Lincoln Penny that is the size of a dime, circumference and thickness.  A collector tried to buy it from me with me with a 1909-S VDB and other misc. coins when I was a kid in 1965 but I kept it.  What do you think?

Hello Tom,

This item has to be seen by a professional.
If it is an error coin the image will likely be incomplete and it has some value if made at the mint. The 1942 cent should weigh 3.11.grams and measure 19mm.  There is the chance it is struck on the wrong planchet (coin blank) and an error collector would find it desirable.
If the image has full details and raised rim it also may be a fantasy coin.
If it is a copy of a cent or a token from somewhere it has no collector value except as a novelty.

If you write back with the general location (nearest large cities) and telephone area code or codes and some zip codes in your area, I can direct you to an AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION MEMBER/DEALER near there. They are ethical and trustworthy.

I hope this information helps. Please remember to rate this answer. And check the nomination box on the rating page below any comments you may have.

Good Luck
