Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1943D steel wheat

Question
This 1943D penny has a large D on the front next to the nose and a large one on the back bottom center, as well as the one by the date.  I wanted to know if you know what this means?

Thanks,

Lisa Merino

Answer
Hi Lisa,
The 2 extra "D"s must have been added by someone after the coin left the mint.  My guess is that they are indented into the coin, not raised like the one by the date.  There is no documented error such as the coin you have.
