Question
I have a coin i think it might be worth something except i cant find how much it might be worth. Its a 1944 Georgvis VID:G:Rex et ind:IMP: and i think its a 5 cents
please help me find how much its worth

Answer
My catalog of world coins shows the Canadian nickel made in 1944 made out of Chromium Plated Steel (due to the war years).  11 million were made which makes it not terribly scarce, and thus probably not worth much of a premium.  My catalog is out of date for prices (it's 17 years old), but the value even of an uncirculated piece (value depends substantially on condition, and there is nothing you can do to increase condition by cleaning etc., you will only devalue the piece) was not much in 1990.  Try going to www.ebay.com and doing a search for 1944 Canadian nickel, to see what is selling and the price and condition, and if nothing comes up now, try again in a week or so, Jim Lawniczak
