Question
I have a 1964 quarter it looks weird it has a tiny D below the eagle and i was wondering what its worth?

Answer
Hello Dennis,

A 1964 Washington Quarter should weigh 6.25 grams. Yours was made at the Denver Mint as designated by the D mint mark letter you found.

In 1964 the quarters were made of 90% silver and 10% copper alloy. It does not show a copper band on the edge as 1965 to present quarters do. Modern quarters have a nickel layer on each side of a copper core.

Since it is a silver coin over it is valued up to $3.80 in circulated grades.

If the coin was never circulated it may be worth more.
