Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1970 D Quarter

Question
I have a 1970 D Quarter which is thinner and weighs less than a normal quarter.  Everything looks like it has been pressed more that normal.  What caused this defect and what is its value?

Answer
Matt, keep in mind that little boys (sometime even men and women) like to try things out and see what happens.  Coins are available to experiment on.  Thus, one possibility is that someone experimented on your quarter by using acid on it or by pressing it in a vice or perhaps both.  The only way to tell for sure is to show it to an expert in person at a coin show or coin shop.  Jim Lawniczak
