Question
I have a 1978 silver colored penny, and I was wondering if it is worth anything?

Answer
Hi Amy,
There are a few possibilities.  One that the coin is merely plated.  Another is that the coin was struck on a planchet designed for either a dime or a foreign coin.  The thirs possibility is that you have an experimental aluminum cent.  They made a bunch but they are still scarce.  I would have to see the coin if this is the case.  If so, I would pay $100 for it.  I have bought quite a few at that level.
If you would like me to assess the coin, you can call me at 800-474-6960 during office hours and I will advise you where to ship it.
