Question
I have a silver penny that I assume is steel that is dated 1983. I want to find out all I can about this. Could you point me in the direction of someone who could look at it that knows more about it than I do. I'm located in VA and my zip is 23901. Thanks a lot.

Does this cent stick to a magnet?
Most of these Silver cents dated after 1982 are actually damaged coins.
The modern cent is made from a ZINC core and plated with a little copper.
Some times the copper is stripped away chemically, other times I have seen them plated with silver colored metals.
Yours would have to be seen in person to decide.
