Question
Hello Cameron,
I have a 1987 double eagle set of 5 coins that have the presidents on them(washington, lincoln, jefferson, FDR & kennedy.  They are .999 silver with 14k gold.  I have not been able to find a value - where else should I look?  I know that only 1,000,000 were made.  Additionally I have a Ronald Regan (without papers).

Your help is appreciated

Answer
Hi Denise,

It sounds like your coins were made by an outside mint and not the US Mint.  Not many people collect them, especially with such a huge mintage.  The value is just in the bullion value of the coin.  you need to find out how much silver and gold is in each piece.  .9999 fine is good silver.... but one ounce each?  Is the 14K just gold plated?  If so it doesn't have any more premium because the gold is so thin it would not register if melted.
