Question
earlier today I asked about a silver penny that I found in a roll of quarters at work......  i just checked on the weight of it again on a scale thqat goes to the Hundredths place... and it weighs 2.69 grams not the same as other pennies from 2006 that seem to consistently weigh less...... about 2.52 grams... I also checked it to a magnet and it is magnetic....
that is weird to me...  Please give me your opinion on the penny dated 2006... thanks for your time
Sara

Answer
Hello again Sara,

None were made at the mint this way yours must have been plated with a magnetic metal as shown by the over weight on your scale.
A normal cent weighs 2.5 grams and is not magnetic.
Things like this have only a novelty value less than a dollar.

Sorry if this is not what you expected.

Good Luck
