Coin and Paper Money Collecting/2006 w American Silver Eagles

Question
I'm confused about the 2006w Silver Eagles. I'm seeing these special "Z6F" burnished coins selling for $100 or more, but no one can tell me if all 2006w Silver eagles are burnished. I know the "Z6F" was the mint distinction for the burnished coin. I haven't seen this noted on any of the certified coins I've seen for sale, and the luster looks like any Silver Eagle. I was also told that the Mint released 12 different Silver Eagles in 2006. I have a 2006, a 2006w, and the 2006 Reverse Proof. I'm trying to get a complete set of Silver Eagles, and it's hard if you don't know what you're buying!

Answer
Fred,

I don't know where the number 12 came from -- I can only come up with 7 :

1. regular issue BU
2-4. W: burnished BU
one sold with 3pc anniversary set
one sold with 2pc gold/silver set
one sold as singles
5-6 proof silver
one in 3pc anniversary set
one sold as single
7. reverse proof
only in 3pc anniversary set

that's all i can think of......

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
