Coin and Paper Money Collecting/2007 Presidential $1 gold coin

Question
I received the George Washington $1 coin from an ad in the newspaper through the World Reserve Monetary Exchange.  Will it be worth it to collect the entire set of 40 coins and pre-pay for coins that will not even be minted for several years?  Is this coin worth anything?

Answer
Hi Todd,

Save your money -- visit your local bank -- you can get the same coins there for face value.

They are also being used in Post Office stamp machines -- buy a book of stamps and you'll likely get them in change from the machine.

It's not likely that these coins will ever have any significant value, so if you collect them, do it because you want to -- not to make money on them.

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
