Question
I just purchased this coin.  I paid $450 for this coin on E-Bay.  Is this a reasonable price? Can you tell me any thing about the coin?

I purchased this coin on E-Bay from:

Seller:   trentonreynell( 1482Feedback score is 1000 to 4,999)
Feedback:   100 Positive
Member:   since Mar-20-98 in United States

He seems very reputable, but I understand there are several forgeries on E-Bay.

The link to the image on E-Bay is:

Thanks,
Ken

What a great site!

Answer
Hi Ken,

The price you paid is reasonable for the coin you bought.  A problem-free coin would probably cost you at least a couple hundred dollars more.

Being ANACS certified, you can rest assured that it is genuine.  They are one of the top 3 certifying companies.

As the holder states, the coin is damaged -- looks like environmentally caused corrosion -- and it has been cleaned.  It's not a very pretty coin -- that's why you got it so cheap.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
