Question
Hi Papajack,

Are any of the above worth more than face value?

Thanks

Answer
Hello David,

There were many millions of each of these coins made at all 3 of the U.S. Mints. There is no gold in the dollar coins or any other precious metal in the Quarters.

They are very common and trade at face value unless you have a high grade un-circulated or proof specimen. An Un-circulated specimen may sell retail to a collector for twice its face value, but it must be in perfect condition.

They did in 2007 start the Presidential series of dollar coins and they too are made out of the same metal used for the Sacagawea coin with no precious metal content at all.

If you do think you have an un-circulated one, error or otherwise unique coin feel free to write me back, I am always willing to help.

Thank You and Good Luck

PapaJack
