Question
i received an 1920 something coin today.i belive it is a 1920 Mercury dime B/c it matches the pic of it on line It says dime on it It is in kinda bad shape. The reason i say 1920 something is B/c i cannot see the last #. Would this coin be worth anything in this shape? or worth any thing beside 10 cents

Answer
Hello Mike,

This should be a Winged Liberty Head or mecury dime.

The Winged Liberty Head Dime has its mint mark on the reverse at the bottom of the Faces and to the right, after the "E" in the word ONE. If there is no letter there it is a Philadelphia Mint Coin.

Coins are valued on a scale from 1 to 70. And on how rare a coin is.
Without the date yours will only grade about 4 on the scale.

The dime is 90% silver and may hold some numismatic value as well so even if it was very worn they sell for a dollar each and as much as 10 for common dates the ones to look for are the 1921 coins and 1916 D coin.

For the more common date and Mint marks even in the worst condition (grade 1) the coin is worth about .90 cents (for its silver content alone)if it is not a 1921 date.

Thank You and Good Luck
