Question
I have a 1988 DD lincoln penny. It has a double stamp on the D
I could not find another sample on-line?

Answer
It sounds like you may have a repunched mint mark.  See the below article.  According to Dr. Taylor (who wrote a book on the Lincoln cent), the way mint marks were added to the cent was changed in 1990 so that there shouldn't be any more repunched doubled mint marks.  It is possible that what is known as machine doubling could cause a second impression to be made.  If that is the case, the doubling is very shallow without a distinct difference between the two mint marks.  Hope this helped, Jim Lawniczak
