We have several pennies missing he fourth digit.  Upon magnified inspection we could see the faint remains of the number "7."  Unless there are documented errors from the Mint, I speculate that someone created this rarity.

That's odd - I have one also. 194? with absolutely no hint of a fourth letter. I can shoot a pic if you want.

I also have a 194? penny with the 4th digit missing. There is also an S underneath the date. Would this be a rarity?

I have a 194? penny as well. How many have to be identified before it is an actual mint error?

We also have a 194D wheat back penny. We are 99% sure that it hasn't been messed with. Why would this have no value when a 3 legged buffalo Nickle does? They are both errors with the die. This coin is priceless to us. Try and find one.
