Question
im a newbie.. i wanna know about what is the meaning of d / s letter in coin description. such as.. 1916-d Mercury Dimes or 1916-s Mercury Dimes.

thanks.

Answer
Andy, almost all U.S. coins identify the year and also the mint where they were made.  For example of dimes made in 1916, the 1916 with no "mint mark" was made in Philadelphia; the dime with the "D" mint mark i.e., the 1916-D was made in Denver; and the dime with the "S" mint mark, the 1916-S, was made in San Francisco.  For more information go to www.wikipedia.net, choose English, and do a search for mint mark.  Jim
