Question
Were there $1 bills printed in 1962? This is my birth year and i'm working on putting together a complete collection for that year.

Answer
Hello Mark,

There were no USA $1 notes issued with the 1962 date!
This does not mean there was no note printed though. They were still printing the 1957-B series Silver Certificates.
Don't feel left out though they were issuing the 1935-H notes until 1957.
In 1963 the first Federal Reserve Notes were issued to all 12 different Federal Reserve Banks. You will notice the Letter inside the seal and at the beginning of the serial number from A to L to differentiate the district it was ordered by and printed for.

There was also the 1953-B $2 United States notes the 1953-B $5 United States Note and 1950-C $5 Federal Reserve Notes printed.  The new design for all denominations was dated 1963.

USA paper Money does not have the date issued on it. Rather it has the date of the design or the date the design was revised.

Here is what you can look for though. The secretary of the Treasury and Treasurer of the US signatures on the currency you are interested in.
C. Douglas Dillon and Elizabeth Rudel Smith had their names on currency from January of 1961 to April 13, 1962 this cash was printed and issued until January 3, 1963 when the Treasurer of the US name changed to Granahan.
So the 1957-A One Dollar Silver Certificate was printed in 1962. The higher the serial number the closer it was made to 1963.

I hope this information helps.

Good Question and Good Luck to you.
