QuestionHi,
I have a 2001, misprinted $10.00 Canadian bill. It does not have any signature. The serial number is FDV603080. I'm trying to find out the value of the bill to collectors. Any information you could provide me with would be great! You can respond to
Thanks in advance,
Michelle
AnswerHello Michelle,
I am not an expert on foreign notes and coins. And I do not have much information on them. And someone will have to look at the note to see if it was altered, counterfeit or a true error.
An internal report by the Bank of Canada states that the current level of counterfeit money in Canada is now higher than its key monitoring benchmark and is higher than benchmarks used in other countries. The report said "All denominations except the $5 continued to be above our historical threshold of 120 counterfeits detected per million genuine notes in circulation," hitting a high of 470 fake bills for every million legitimate notes circulating in 2004
Sorry I could not be more help but I may be able to refer you to an authority near you. They would give you an opinion for free.
If you want someone in you area to look at the note write me again with your postal Zip Code and a couple of the nearest large cities for your area. I can direct you to an AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION MEMBER/DEALER near there. They are ethical and trustworthy.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. Make sure you mark your Question as private.
Thank You and Good Luck
