Coin and Paper Money Collecting/$100 bill print error - upside down face

Question

upside down franklin
Rec'd from my son in law a 1996 U.S. $100 bill - the hidden Franklin face which should be on the right is actually on the left, higher on the bill (not centered) and upside down.  Obviously then the lettered strip that is normally on the left is on the right instead.  He works at a bank and they originally thought it was counterfeit but it came back from the Treasury as true legal tender, just a mistake.  Is this something exceptional or a fairly common misprint?  Thank you for your help

Answer
Hi Pat,

I have never heard of this type of error but I am not a Currency Expert.  I suggest you contact one of the Currency Certification services such as PMGNOtes.com

They can certify it, grade it and make it readily sellable.

Look on eBay for a note with a similar error to see if you can find a value.  Good Luck!
