Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1843 Seated liberty coin

Question
My husband acquiredsome 1843 coins.  There is no mint stamp on it.  Also when comparing it with others I see online, it has "in god we trust" above the eagle.  The others I see do not have this.  Are these fakes? I also have trade dollars from 1843 and 1876, are these fakes or worth anything?

Answer
Hello, Thanks for the question.  Over 95% of these that walk in our shop are fakes from China.  Companies in China are producing alarming numbers of fake Trade, Bust, and Seated Liberty dollars.  If you paid nothing or close to it you can bet they are fake.  You can always take your items to a local coin dealer and get them checked out.  Thanks for the question.  If you have a digital scale get a weight in grams.  A 1846 Dollar should weigh 26.73 grams, but this is only one indication of an authentic coin.  Thanks again, Troy Thoreson
