Question
I have two questions if not too much trouble?  I was going through my sons old money given to him by my husband and found two interesting pieces. A 1917 quarter and a 1936 penny.  Oh, and I also found a 1938 bill of some sort it has a picture of a man in goggles with a weapon/gun over his shoulder the letters look like Oguh pyou.  Any info would be great.

Hello MJ,

Thank you for the question it is no trouble at all, glad to help.

I cannot tell you anything on the 1936 note you have though I am only an expert on USA Issued Coins.
I can only tell you it is not a USA bank issue. There may be another expert here that can help you identify it.
Or your library should have a reference book on World Bank Notes titled “The Standard Catalog of World Paper Money” from Krause Publications

A 1936 US Cent is not a valuable coin. These wheat back cents are common and still available in Un-circulated mint state condition for about $2 dollars. If it is worn it sells for about a nickel.

The Standing Liberty Quarter Dollar was made from 1916 to 1930.
I must tell you there were 2 kinds made in 1917. One had a Bare Breast on lady liberty and a second type has liberty with her breast covered.

The Type One coins from 1917 are valued higher than the 1917 type two coins. To check the type see if there are three stars under the eagle on the reverse.

If the stars are not present and it is a 1917 coin it is more collectable and should be looked at by a professional.
If it is 1918 or later it will sell for $4.00 or less if it is very worn down from circulation.

If you do want someone to look at the piece for you write back and mark your question as private!
I will direct you to an AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION MEMBER/DEALER near there. They are ethical and trustworthy.

Feel free to get more information on this or any question on U.S. Coins.

Thank You and Good Luck
