Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1995 smooth edged quarter
Expert: Joe Hylas - 12/12/2008
QuestionQUESTION: Joe,
I have one of these that is in great condition. Do you have any interest in purchasing it from me?
ANSWER: Hi Jason,
I would have to see the coin to verify the authenticity of the error.
That would involve physical inspection, and ascertainly proper weight and size.
If you would like to ship it to me, I will review it. We need to see that the reeding on the edge never occurred, rather than someone removing it.
You can ship the coin to me at:
Joe Hylas
18 Village Square
Glen Cove, NY 11542
I suggest you send the coin via INSURED US MAIL
We do not address packages to the company name (Omega Precious Metals) to avoid alerting any theives of the possible contents. lease include your phone number so I can call you with our offer.

QUESTION: No problem. Thanks Joe. How am I ensured that you will not just keep the coin yourself and not pay me the fair market value for it? And if it is indeed authentic, about how much is it worth?
AnswerHi Jason,
First off, if you want to bring the coin to me personally so you alleviate your fears, I am open to that. I have been in this industry for 30+ years and I am not about to tarnish my reputation by doing something unethical. Check out my credentials at www.AllCoins.US
I have worked with the US Mint, Royal Canadian Mint, Austrian Mint, World Gold Council, Chamber of Mines of South Africa, Platinum Guild International and I was on the Board of Directors of the Industry Council for Tangible Assets for 6 years. Not to mention that I have traded billions of dollars worth of metals during my career.
As for the value of the coin, first we have to determine just what the error is and how it was caused. That is easier than placing a value on the coin. But you can do some homework yourself by searching the internet auction sites. Check eBay, maybe yours is not the only one out there that is missing the edge reeding. Maybe there is a precednt price out there. I have not gone that route yet since it seems like that would be putting the cart before the horse.
Find a local dealer near you, maybe he will make you an offer.
Let me know how you want to proceed.
