Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Silver Medallion Soil Conservation Society
Expert: PAPAJACK - 12/10/2008
QuestionWe have an official silver medallion NO. 1333 that commemorates the 25th Anniversary of the Soil Conservation Society of America. It is a one of a limited issue of 2,000 silver medallions and was produced for the Society by the Medallic Art company of New York, NY. Dated 9/16/69.
It is in mint condition, we still have the certificate and the box it came in. We would like to know its worth and who might purchase it.
Answer
Hello D.,
Medals are not my specialty, but the AllExperts.com forwarded your question to me.
Unfortunately these medals are usually under valued. You might find a buyer for $10 if the medal is silver or less if it is a base metal.
The Land Society was founded by Dr. Bennett in 1945 as non-profit association; dedicated to advance science and art of good land use. Fifteen years later, membership numbered 10,000 in all states and 72 other countries.
So you may find an advocate that will pay more for the medal.
Also the Medallic Art Company of New York is famous for its artisans. And a member or individual involved in Medallic Art will pay more.
You can try contacting the Medallic Art Company for information on the design.
I hope this information helps.
Thank You and Good Luck
