Question
Hi Joe,

I have a comic book collection worth around $1600.00, many old,(mostly cancelled stamps of unknown value), many old American coins, (1900-1964), & am starting a knife collection. Even considering collecting older "cigarette cards". Guess it's just my nature to diversify.

Being I enjoy different types of collecting, some equally, I was just interested in which type(s) of collecting to concentrate more of my efforts on as far as which form(s) of collecting might gain more monetary value as far as it's long-term future investment value?

Thanks for any help.

Best,

mike E.

Answer
Hi Mike,

I only know US coins, no other collectible area.  The other areas may do better in the future, I simply would not know.  However, bear in mind that collecting uses discretionary funds.

When funds are not available, collectors stop buying and prices drop.

Actaully, at this time, I am advising all but my most affluent collectors to limit the purchase of collectible coins, or liquidate them all together, and buy gold bullion.

Gold bullion is money worldwide.  There is no argument what it is worth and it is easily transferred from one individual to another.

As the economy continues to tighten up, I suspect you will see a drop in values across the board on collectibles.

This is merely my opinion, you really have to make your own decision.

Good Luck
