Question
Hello Dan, My step daughter recently found a coin on the beach and we can find nothing about it anywere.
On one side it has the word Liberty with a lady standing with one foot on a rock on the right side and some kind of bush beneath it. In the left bottom corne it has what looks like the capital building. In her left hand she has a branch held out to the side and in her right hand she has her staff held in front of her. There is also stars all around the outside of the coin.
On the opposite side it says One Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver below that it has a eagle in flight over the sun. It also has the same stars on the outside but we can not find a date anywere on it
Answer
Hello Chelsea,
This is not a coin at all. This is one of the countless silver rounds being produced.
Its value is the current price of one ounce of silver. They are made in rounds and rectangles (bars) then sold to the public at a premium over the spot market.
Some are made using coin designs (as yours) and I have seen tractors presidents, company logos etc. They are categorized as Silver Art Bars (or rounds) and as I said trade at the current price of silver. Some rare metallic art sell at a higher value but most are produced in the millions.
