Coin and Paper Money Collecting/coins value

Question
I have some coins which I have kept for over the years and was wondering if you might know the value:  I have 1 1878 silver dollar and one 1900 silver dollar are these worth anything if so how much?

Answer
Hello, First check your coins for Mint Marks.  Turn the Morgan Dollar over and look just above the D and O in Dollar.  On the 1878 you might see an "O", "S", "CC", or nothing at all.  If you have a "CC" typical coins are worth $50 to $150 depending on condition.  Most other coins will be worth $16 to $35 depending on Mint and Type.  On the 1900 you'll see a "O", "S", or nothing at all.  If you have a 1900 "O" or "S" mint mark you might want to have the coin checked out by a local dealer.  If there is no Mint Mark most likely its worth around $16.  The prices I have included are for common average coins.  If you feel your coins are exceptional in quality you should have a local dealer check them out.  Without seeing them I can only give you information from my experience and the average coin I see.  I hope all this helps!  You might also consider collecting a date set - its fun and not that expensive.  Please remember - never clean your coins and always handle them by the edge.   Troy Thoreson, Aucpro
