Question
QUESTION: i have a two head quarter, one side is dated 1974 and the other side is dated 1977, one side has the old silver and the other is more of the cooper look and on the rim you can see the lining of the silver and copper,i was hoping that you would be able to answer my question of the value of this coin or if there is even a value to it

ANSWER: Hello Kerri, We have been around coins for over 30 years.  Every double headed quarter we have ever seen was man made.  If you take a magnifying glass and take a close look at the edge of the coin you might see the seem.  Its basically a trick or novelty coin.  Thanks for asking! QUESTION: hello again its kerri,  i have looked at the quarter very closely and i do not see a seem. i have had a couple of people tell me that it could have gotten stuck in the mint when it was made and when it was knocked loose it was stamped again 4 years later. is that even possiable? who would i need to take it to to have it looked at to make sure cause i really cannot find anything on it that would make me think it was fake.  thank you for your help

Answer
Hi Kerri,  If you worked at a bank and found the coin in a U.S. Mint sealed bag, you might have something.  Most likely you found the coin in change.  There is always that very slim chance you have a true Mint Error.  You might consider taking the coin to your local coin dealer for examination.  Don't be to disappointed if it is a man made two headed coin.  Without seeing it I cannot give you 100% assurance its a fake.  The seem can be very difficult to see.  Thanks and have a great Holiday Season.  Write back when you get the final word on the coin.  Troy Thoreson, Aucpro
