Question
A while ago i found a lincoln penny with a clover on it i was wondering if this is a collectable penny and if so how much it could be worth?

Answer

Luckycent
Hello James,

The coin you describe is a well-known alteration of a coin.

This coin is not an error or an official issue, but was made by someone who manipulated a regular U.S. one-cent coin by simply stamping an image of an Irish Shamrock next to Lincoln. This so-called Lucky-Cent shows up in circulation and coins shows regularly, especially around St. Patrick’s Day. It is just a gimmick and they sell for less than a dollar.

Several variations on this theme circulate some with a wrapped present with a bow, Lincoln vs. Kennedy etc….  They usually come on a card with some sayings or facts about the coins. .

Good Luck
