Hello Mr. Moore,
I have a penny that was mis minted and distorted. The design is kind of smooshed and raised more than should be...does this sound like it could be worth something...in the middle of where it is distorted there is a recessed area that looks as if some foreign object or dirt got on the stamper during the striking of the coin. Does this sound like something that could be valuable...what kind of strike mistakes are?
My mom also has one that is a half strike and the other half of it is blank is this one valuable too?

Your coin would require first-hand examination to see if it was minted that way or if it was altered after it left the mint. Try checking the following websites for listings of coin shows in your area where you can take the coin for a first hand examination :
