Question
I came across a Bicentennial quarter that has no mint mark. I've read that there is usually a P or a D. Is there any significance to the absence of the mint mark?

Modern quarters have P mintmarks (for Philadelphia), but they did not atart putting the P mintmarks on quarters until 1980.

So having no mintmark on your 1976 quarter is normal -- it just means that the coin was minted at the main mint in Philadelphia.
