Question
I found this and would like ot know it's value, if any

Answer
Jackie, condition plays a vital factor in value.  For example, the wholesale value of a 1826 cent runs from around $18 in what is called good (average) condition to a bit over a thousand in uncirculated condition (the coin was kept since 1826 and never entered circulation and so, other than by toning from the air, looks the same as it did when it was made).  Couple thoughts -- 1. you cannot improve condition by doing anything to the piece, anything you do will almost certainly reduce value, by making your piece "scuddzy."  2.  go to www.ebay.com and do a search for 1826 penny and then 1826 cent and see what comes up for sale.  You could compare condition.  3.  there are many large cents out there that are in worse condition, some far worse than good (average).  Thus, your piece is not guaranteed to be worth anything.  If it is very worn (more than good) and has lots of problems (nicks, cuts, cleaning etc), then it could be worth next to nothing.  Hope this helped, Jim Lawniczak
