Question I have an 1898 Nederlandsch Indie two and a half cent and was wondering what it could be worth in australian dollars. Ihave seen others from the Netherlands with the same year but not the Nederlandsch Indie. It could also be a NerdlandscII - hard to tell if it is a H or II
Answer Hi David, Collector value of a coin depends on date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it.
There were 7.6 million of these copper Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) 2-1/2 cent coins minted that year and it may be worth about U.S. $2 (AU $2.20) with heavy wear to around $10 with moderate wear to maybe $20 with light wear. collector demand in Australia may be stronger (or not).
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
