Question
I recently inherited a coin collection   the coins are in perfect condition and are worth alot of money.
I have one coin that is very hard to find any info on.
The coin is $20 gold piece ( a rectangular shape)
on the coin is says Parson&assayers col. 1860 twenty dols.  on back of coin it says caret 18.5 dwt 25.6

Answer
Carl,

That gold bar could be worth thousands of dollars IF it is genuine.  However, there are a lot of replicas out there, so it may not have much value.

You need to get it certified.  Check out the following (recommended) websites for information about how and where to get your coin certified :

www.ngccoin.com

www.anacs.com

I hope this helps,

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
