ANSWER: Hi Tish,
Portland NH, Portland ME, Portland OR  ?????

Your coin is worth anywhere from $2,000 and up.  The coin would have to be graded and authenticated to arrive at an accurate value.
If you are interested in selling it, please consider our firm, Omega Precious Metals   You can visit our website at www.AllCoins.US

I would certainly be interested in your coin.

QUESTION: We are outside of Portland, OR. I forget there are three Portland's in this country. My husband has had this coin for 60 years. What should be do to have it appraised? We never have. I have just checked coin books over the years.
Thanks so much for your response. I appreciate you interest and help.

Answer
Hi Tish,
There are a few ways to handle this.  One is to simply take it to local dealers and ask what they would pay for it.  Another way is to have the coin certified.  What you need to do is go to www.NGCCoin.com

NGC is a certification and grading service in Sarasota Florida.  You ship them the coin, registered mail, with payment.  In 6 weeks, you receive the coin back in a a sealed holder and the grade of the coin displayed on the holder.  This makes the coin readily sellable, sight unseen.

Also, if you want to send me the coin, I will appraise it free of charge.  Let me know if you want my address.  You can email me directly at JoeHylas@aol.com
