Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1995 Penny

Question
I have a penny that looks as if the copper is coming off, but on the reverse side, the "One Cent, In God We Trust" is backwards.  Is this a real coin?

Answer
Geri, probably not, I can't imagine anyway that a die could strike a coin that would be mirror imaged backwards.  My guess is that someone impressed a reverse into your cent by a blow.  Can you see evidence on the cent of some striking -- it may have been done with a cloth in between the hammer and the coin though.  Jim Lawniczak
