Question
We came across a 1999 P Georgia state quarter that appears to be all silver possibly. It doesn't appear to have the same weight or sound as an older silver quarter though. Is this just an ordinary quarter or is it special or rare at all? I saw that there were some silver proof quarters made but from what I saw, there were all made in San Fran. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello Willy,

I found no record of silver quarters from the Philadelphia mint being found.
To be sure yours is silver all through and not just plated you should weigh the coin.

A normal nickel clad Quarter weighs 5.67 grams and is 24.3 mm in diameter. A  Silver quarter weighs 5.75 grams.

Hope this information helps.

Good Luck
