Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Entire contiguous series of filled-die errors

Question
I found some uncirculated rolls of 1974 lincoln cents containing an entire series of coins that had the letters "sta" from "states" affected by a clot. One coin actually contained the clot material. So, I basically have all or most of the existing uncirculated coins that have either the "sta" missing or faded.

I understand that filled-die errors are rarely worth anything. Is there any value to an uncirculated set containing all errored coins possessing this flaw?

I have 59 coins from this series

Answer
Hi Gene,

I assume from your description that you have a bunch of "cud" error cents -- looks like a blob of raised metal along the rim -- caused by a piece of the die breaking off.

Having a whole run of these coins in diffferent states is unusual, but you would have to find a special collector for them.  Individually, they are worth perhaps a couple dollars apiece -- as a group you may be able to get a bonus.

I suggest you contact an error dealer I know -- Ken Potter -- include a few pictures of different die states, and see what he has to say.  You can email him directly at : KPotter256@aol.com

Good luck!

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
